Full Automation and Convenience

VELP Scientifica CN 802 produces results of both elements in 2 to 5 minutes per sample, being a fast and accurate Carbon/Nitrogen Analyzer designed for full automatic process.

With the best nitrogen limit of detection on the market and an RSD lower than 0.5% for EDTA, the user is assured of high precision results.

Dedicated Detectors for Carbon and Nitrogen

The sample is purged with carrier and drops down into the combustion reactor where it is converted in its elemental compounds at a high temperature (>1000°C).

Water separation is performed in 2 steps. The first is the maintenance-free physical trap DriStep™ (WT1) strategically placed after combustion. The second is a chemical trap (WT2), ensuring the complete elimination of residual 1% of water.

The combination of high temperature and the exclusive VcopperTM reduces nitrogen dioxide to molecular nitrogen inside the reduction furnace.

The VELP NDIR detector precisely detects Carbon concentration with an excellent limit of detection.

The auto-regenerative CO2 absorbers trap carbon dioxide in order for the exclusive TCD (Thermal Conductivity Detector) to detect the Nitrogen content.

The CN combustion method starts with a combustion in the combustion furnace (CF) to burn the sample obtaining elemental compounds. Water is removed by the Velp unique first physical trap (DriStep™) and the elemental substances pass through the reduction furnace (RF). The innovative NDIR – Non Dispersive Infrared Detctor accurately detects the Carbon concentration and sends the information to the software. The flow then passes through the auto-regenerative CO2 absorbers (CO2) only permitting Nitrogen to be detected by the LoGas™ Thermal Conductivity Detector (TCD), therefore not requiring a reference gas.

Accurate and precice Carbon/Nitrogen Determination

Discover the reliability of the CN 802, as shown by the very low detection limit for both elements (0.01 mgC and 0.001 mg N) and the good RSD% (<0.5% with EDTA standard). The unit can process up to 1 gram of samples, but also with small quantities (around 200 mg) CN 802 gives optimum results with minimum consumption. No need for higher quantities as the results will be the same.


Dual carrier gas Analyzer

Helium has been the carrier gas for elemental analyzers for many years. After years of increasing prices and supply chain interruptions, obtaining Helium has become more and more difficult and expensive, especially in some countries.
The desire to replace Helium with a more easily accessible carrier gas has intensified and become reality. This is the reason why we have developed a Carbon/Nitrogen analyzer able to use both Helium and its best alternative, Argon, without the need for replacing any part.


Reliable Autosampler

The CN autosampler provides high-quality performance, both for the sample loading and the sample conditioning, where the sample is stored into a dedicated room and purged with Helium/Argon in order to eliminate any trace of nitrogen present in the atmosphere before starting the analysis.
It can stand up to 4 discs of 30 positions each simultaneously for an enhanced productivity.
The same autosampler is suitable for samples of any matrix (liquid, solid and semi-solid) up to 1 gram.

The CNSoft™ software is the powerful VELP solution that controls and operates the CN 802 analyzer.

The CNSoft™ comes with a user-friendly interface that displays all relevant information at a glance: results, database and instrument conditions.

It is possible to choose from a rich library of pre-installed methods and create customized ones. An easy calibration curve creation for Carbon and Nitrogen allows for testing of any sample matrix with no memory effect.

Run the complete Leak Test and choose whether to run it on the whole circuit or targeted by zone, after replacing a consumable for example.
